A Travellerspoint blog

November 8, 2010

We had to stop in at Santa Cruz to walk out on their 1/2 mile long wooden boardwalk. There was shops and restaurants at the end of the pier but unfortunately we were between breakfast and lunch. We did take lots of pictures back towards their amusement park. Remember one of the pictures Rose put on display in her cabin in the movie Titanic, the one on the beach (I think she might even be on a horse) with the wooden roller coaster behind her? I think it was taken here. We had a lovely sunny drive today and are seeing some pretty impressive scenery. We stopped and had lunch overlooking a beach where there was a bunch of kite surfers. Those guys are nuts!

Across the Golden Gate Bridge and then back on to Highway One along the coast. For the first time I felt car sick today. This stretch of the road is very windy and hilly. I think Don didn't get much past 20 M.P.H. the entire stretch of road. We kept pulling over for cars to go past us as well. We had hoped to make it as far as Sonoma Coast State Beach but it was starting to get dark so we have stopped for the night in a place called Olema. We are camped in a lovely forest with a stream running right behind the Motorhome. The town is so small it didn't even make my BCAA Tour Book, my bible when I'm traveling. I read about all the towns we are going through and by doing that we have found some unusual things to stop and look at.

All for today. Time to cook dinner. I'm going to try and attached a couple of our Monarch Butterfly pictures.
